I love being a woman geek

It's always good for double takes at the very least...and today it made a coworker's brain go splodey :)

Background: I work for a large company that happens to have an office both in the town I work in as well as in Atlanta. Where I live it's very cold. Like 6 degrees above 0 cold. In Atlanta - well...they've got the drought to deal with.

I walked into a meeting that was part conference call today with some of said coworkers from Atlanta...where they were joking that they had to chemically process their softdrinks to get every ounce of water out of them in order to get fresh water.

I joke, "Oh...sounds like Dune."

"Like June?" Queried the disembodied voice of one of my coworkers...the one with whom I'd had several lengthy conversations about various shows and movies including Buffy, Angel, BSG, Firefly, Star Trek, etc...we are of the geek.

"No," I said. "Like Dune."

"...."

"You know...Frank Herbert? Dune? Sand worms?"

"OH!!!! Dune!! Yes!"

We laughed hard for a few minutes and joked about reprocessing bodily fluids...and then he said something along the lines that it throws him when a woman talks geek...that it just blows his mind completely.

*bows*

Bravo on two accounts. One, you're bowing, so I applaud you, like at a live theater: "Teleconferencing, the Musical!" Two, you just made me one notch more famous. That's right baby, I'm famous! I'm on the Internet! Whoo hoo! :)
