My 13 year old daughter came out of her grounding this evening in order to do chores - I was a little irate this morning when I'd grounded her and wasn't entirely paying attention to what she was wearing. So this evening was the first true glimpse I had of what she was wearing.
It was a cute outfit, but it was still surprising, because the top most layer of it was a Halloween costume I had sewn for her years ago. Yes it still fits, but that's not the point. The point was that she was a) still wearing the darn thing, and b) still interested in wearing it. It's a black zipper dress that's too small for her to wear as a dress, so she wears it sort of as a jacket. It really does look cute. She says that it fits pretty well all around, but it's finally getting a little snug in the arms. (It's about time - I think she was 9 when I made it for her).
When I asked her if she was still interested in stuff that "Mom makes" she just smiled and said, "Yes, Mom" - in fact, her friends were amazed that her mother had made a piece of clothing that she could wear to school. There are days I swear she just does it for the comments *laugh*.
